Match the pictured form before naming the effect
The example shows long purple bodies with two horn-like tips among dark rock and orange water. A pale-purple jagged ring appears around these forms. Round blue spiked creatures, pink star-shaped bodies and red circular areas are also nearby, so color alone is not enough to identify the relevant effect.
Use the ring and its center together as your visual checkpoint. This observation does not establish a named depth, an unlock route or a guaranteed spawn location; the retained encounter does not display those menu labels.

Keep the spoken identification separate from the picture
In the original captions at 2:34:55.6, Ray says, “I got hit with the shocker.” The remark describes this encounter; it is not a species label displayed by the game.
The adjacent frame shows the diver flashing white, a red border and overlapping enemies. That supports a visible hit state, but it cannot isolate whether one specific contact or overlapping hazard produced every part of the damage. Do not infer a stun duration from a still image.

Leave room to move when the ring appears
For a repeat observation, approach with clear space beside the diver, keep the purple body and its ring in view, and move away from the ring center rather than staying among overlapping creatures. Track the diver across consecutive frames before calling an effect immobilization.
In this sequence the diver moves away from the earlier cluster, continues through the opening above the rock, and later approaches the submarine. The moving pale-blue cloud follows the player’s firing direction; it must not be relabeled as an electrical projectile from the jellyfish.
- Match the long purple form and the ring around it.
- Move toward open space outside the ring instead of crowding the nearby bodies.
- Check the diver’s continued movement and the return state.
- Keep the observed reaction separate from an untested immunity or paralysis-duration claim.

Separate the neighboring circular effects
At about 2:35:03, a purple form on the right is centered inside a jagged lavender ring. A much larger bright effect sits inside the red area on the left. Compare their centers and outlines; do not combine the two into one claimed attack.
| Visible feature | How to record it |
|---|---|
| Jagged pale-purple ring | Track the purple body at its center |
| Round blue spiked body | Record separately; do not assign the ring to it from proximity |
| Large bright effect in a red area | Keep separate from the lavender ring |
| Pale-blue moving spray | Follow the player’s gun direction before assigning a source |

Finish with the expedition result, not a capture claim
After the player reaches the submarine area, Expedition End records Jellyfishes Collected +7 and Obsidians Collected +5,660. The submarine inventory separately shows a purple icon with 8. The trip tally and stored stack are different readouts.
This is the end of the observed trip, not proof that the pictured ring-producing body was caught at a particular impact. Keep a successful species identification, a successful capture and a measured electrical effect as separate claims until their own evidence is available.
